Elementary School Curriculum

I believe that the most important time for a person to learn about the environment and environmental issues is in childhood. As a child in NYC I didn’t receive much of an environmental education in school. I had to learn by visiting my local parks. It was because of urban parks that I was able to gain an appreciation for wildlife and local ecosystems, an appreciation that I want other young people to gain. To further environmental youth education I have created a short curriculum that elementary school teachers can teach to their students on a variety of issues facing birds. There are many benefits to environmental education. Students who receive this education are more likely to care and help sustain their local environment and increase civic engagement, and much more.
